"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I commanded you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."
Deuteronomy 6:5-7
I'm trying to imagine what it would look like when I go to bed and when I wake up- totally devoted to God. I have been trying to keep my focus on God throughout my day. Naturally I've noticed when God is my focus, I try to pass on Godly talk to my children. Those days are much brighter, mellow, full of grace. When I focus on Him, I marinate in His truths. But, when I'm distracted and my focus shifts to "crap" (all my selfish stuff) I tend to be short fused, and not so full of grace towards my children. I try. And everyday I mess up at some point! Ask my husband, he typically gets the brunt of it unfortunately. I do have to remind myself often to shift my focus back on God.
Some days I stress about the image: Working out and getting a bikini body for my husband. It's easy to get wrapped up in that CRAP!
--"And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions." 1 Timothy 4:9 (message)
--"So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline." Colossians 3:12 (message)
--Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Matthew 6:25 (NIV)
Some days I stress about finances: "Why did we choose to have a single income again? If we could only afford.... replacing our broken couch, a nice vacation" yada yada...
--Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves and do not berak in and steal. Fod where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6: 19-21 (NIV)
Some days I stress about marriage: "He doesn't understand!"
-- God's righteousness doesn't grow from human anger." James 1:20 (Message)
....You get the point. I've gotta switch my focus from the problem to His presence.
I have to remember to keep the main things the main things.
The main thing: Being submissive, and obedient to God's will.
